Many people think the war was fought solely between Great Britain and Germany, however there were many other countries involved. Some countries sided with Germany and others with Great Britain. Some countries even changed sides after key events in the war. The countries that were on the side of Great Britain are known as the Allies and the countries on the side of Germany were known as the Axis.
